Taku haerenga | My journey
Kōrero Pono was born out of my belief in the power of honest reflection, connection, and culturally grounded support in professional supervision.
Although I was raised in Tāmaki Makaurau, I spent much of my childhood with my grandparents in the Bay of Islands. I was immersed in Te Ao Māori from an early age, surrounded by a strong, loving whānau whose influence continues to shape my values, perspective, and mahi. That grounding in whanaungatanga, wairuatanga, and collective care informs how I show up as a supervisor.
I’m a Registered Nurse, designated prescriber in community health, and hold credentials in Mental Health and Addictions. I also serve as a Justice of the Peace. With over 25 years of experience across community health, sexual health, and tertiary education, I bring a grounded, relational, and strength-based approach to supervision.
I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Supervision from the University of Auckland and am currently completing my Master of Professional Supervision. My supervision practice is reflective, supportive, and culturally responsive. I draw from Te Ao Māori and uphold the principles of manaakitanga, tika, pono, and aroha. While I am not fluent in Te Reo Māori, I continue to learn and grow my confidence and understanding.
Supervision is, to me, a space to wānanga. A space to pause, connect, and grow in ways that support both professional practice and personal wellbeing.
