Taku haerenga | My journey

For me, supervision is a space of honesty, reflection, and whakawhanaungatanga; a place wānanga the real stuff. It’s about showing up as your full self and being supported in a way that acknowledges both the head and the heart.

I was raised by, and come from a whānau of strong, grounded wāhine Māori who have deeply influenced how I see the world and how I practice. Their mana, aroha, and unapologetic strength shape the way I walk alongside others in supervision.

Much of my experience has centred around supporting ākonga (learners) and whānau across Tauranga Moana. I’ve held leadership roles in the tertiary education sector, most recently leading a team committed to equity, holistic support, and fostering a deep sense of belonging for ākonga. My practice is grounded in kaupapa Māori values of aroha, manaakitanga, and kotahitanga and influenced by both social work theory and the realities of frontline experience.

As a registered social worker I bring a relational, culturally safe, and reflective approach to this space. Supervision to me, is a form of whanaungatanga; it’s about connection, honest conversation, and creating space to grow not just as practitioners, but as people.
